[edit] Web Site

The main site is a bit different than most Ham Radio Club sites.

This site is a Wiki. Basically that means you - our visitor - can, add, edit, modify and create pages or their content and are encouraged to do so! If you've know something that may be of benefit to the Ham Community - create a page for it or find a related page and put it up. Share your history, your shack, your favorite modes, your favorite events, kits you've built, your projects, your hard earned wisdom bought by hours of chasing elusive DX or QRP contacts - let your imagination by your guide. Of course, we'd like you to be a member of CARC, but that's not a requirement to contribute to this site. As long as it's ham radio related - you and your ideas are welcome here. Ultimately, this site's users will create its content and keep it up to date. You must have a user account and be logged in to make any changes. See the Create an Account or Log In page.

This web site has been Serving the Casper area Amateur Community since 28-Jan-2006

[edit] Discussion Board

A must place to visit: The CARC Discussion Board. This is were news, plans, events and pretty much anything 'ham radio' or relating to CARC, it's members or this site is discussed and shared.

[edit] Email Reflector

You're invited to subscribe to CARC's Private Email Reflector. The reflector traffic is not moderated, however subscriptions are. This is to prevent spammers from subscribing and passing their junk on to everyone on the list. Everyone else is welcome and encouraged to subscribe. This reflector is totally under the control of CARC. Only subscribers can view the membership list. CARC won't share your email address with anyone else. If you've any questions or concerns, please - ask away. If you aren't familiar with what an email reflector is, This will explain it.

[edit] W7VNJ 2m Repeaters and Tower Site

Our Local repeater is open to all licensed operators and can be found at 145.235 (standard negative offset) with a 100hz tone. Plan to use this repeater for many local club activities and events. It has very good coverage in the Casper area - especially for hand helds.

Our Regional repeater is open to all licensed operators and can be found at 146.940 (standard negative offset) with a 123hz tone. This repeater is used for the Sunday evening club net. Those operating near Casper Mountain (South side of town) may want to use a mobile or base radio instead of a hand held and/or an antenna with some gain. Due to 'shadow' effect near the mountain, it can be tough to get into the .940 machine with a 'rubber ducky dummy load'.

For more information, pictures and details on the club's repeater and the tower site visit the 145.235 or the 146.940 page.

So, what's a repeater you ask? Take a look. Click that link and read up!

[edit] Repeaters in the Casper area

The Area Repeaters page has a list of repeaters in the Casper area.

One of our newer pages discusses Repeater Etiquette.

[edit] Nets

Here's where you find out times, frequencies and purposes for the local VHF and regional HF nets.

[edit] Wyoming Swap Shop

Paul, KB7FGN does all of us a service by coordinating the Wyoming Swap Shop. He distributes the weekly listing via an email reflector, sometimes called an 'electronic mailing list'. To receive the weekly listings, you have to be subscribed to the reflector. All you need to subscribe is an email address. You can do that here. Or find the latest listings for the Wyo Swap Shop on Paul's web site. Other wanted and for sale items might be found in the Classifieds section of our discussion board.

[edit] Operations and Projects

The operations page is a place to gather information about the hows, where's and who's of ham radio in the area. Idea is to make information available that is of more interest to the ham operator, but not take up space on this front page for the casual 'surfer'.

The Projects page includes ideas and possibly plans for radio related projects. Including station setup, power systems, mobile operations, alternative energy and more.
