wc = wide coverage nets

1 - formal traffic nets - these are the big ones. If you check in, YOU WILL BE EXPECTED TO HANDLE TRAFFIC.
They are very long, usually 3-4 hours and not much ragchew or bs'ing.
You just about have to have an amplifier due to the area they cover.
If you want to work traffic this is where to be.

2 - All area 7, n. calif. and south western canada

Disaster Nets

Disaster Nets
Name When Frequency Notes
Hurricane Net When Needed 14.325 1
SATERN When Needed 14.265 1
Maritime Mobile Service daily about 1800 14.300 2
1 NOTICE: The Hurricane Net and the Satern Net are Emergency Nets.
Checking in "just to say hello", or "see if I can help" are very much frowned on.
If you want to help, just LISTEN, if you hear traffic for your area THEN check in with where you are.
If you want to know what's happening first hand, as it's happening, these are the places to LISTEN.

2 The Maritime Mobile Service Net is NOT normally an emergency net,
and though they are a dedicated maritime mobile net, they can and do take check ins from anyone, anywhere.
However, during Hurricanes and severe storms they can and do become an emergency net.
The Maritime Net meets daily on 14.300 and starts about noon local time.

Notes

Advice

As with any net, I strongly advise just listening for a while before checking in.
If you have a question about the net you may find it answered before you have to ask.
